The human touch behind tomorrow’s AI

Headlines often forecast a future where Artificial Intelligence replaces human workers, two Israeli startups, SWAPP and BRIA, are proving the opposite: that real innovation comes from humans and machines working together. Their vision is to transform entire industries not by replacing people, but by supercharging their capabilities with cutting-edge AI.

SWAPP: Turning Architects into AI-Augmented Superheroes

Architecture is one of the oldest professions in the world, but also one of the slowest to change. SWAPP is rewriting that script by introducing an advanced AI Reasoning Engine that automates the most tedious parts of architectural planning, while preserving and amplifying the architect’s creative role.

The company’s platform analyzes raw data and transforms it into full sets of detailed construction documents. What used to take weeks of manual labor can now be done in hours and with greater accuracy, compliance, and consistency. Unlike generic AI tools, SWAPP’s system is built specifically to understand architectural language, integrating both graphical and textual data, such as wall cross-sections and material specifications.

According to Eitan Tsarfati, the CEO and co-founder of SWAPP, they are building AI that works with people, not instead of people. This AI asks questions, tests, and deeply understands each step of the architectural data process.

By embedding AI directly into the architectural workflow, SWAPP allows firms, mainly mid-sized and large firms in the U.S., to scale projects, increase profitability, and improve overall design quality without needing to grow headcount. It’s a game-changer in an industry often constrained by low margins and labor-intensive processes.

PropTech, the broader category of innovation in real estate and construction, has exploded in recent years. Tsarfati, who previously led Autodesk Israel, was an early believer. He claims that the purpose is to build a sustainable business that generates real revenue and helps clients do more with less.

SWAPP’s progress has been backed by the Israel Innovation Authority, whose early-stage investment helped propel the company forward. The support they received in the pre-seed stage gave them “oxygen” in the form of time, trust, and opportunity –  enabling their growth. Tsarfati hopes that in a few years, SWAPP will be present in every architecture firm.

BRIA: The Infrastructure for Ethical Generative AI

In the era of instant content creation, BRIA is tackling the challenge of how to ensure creative responsibility in a world where AI can generate anything, anytime. Instead of chasing viral tools, BRIA is building the backend infrastructure that will make generative content safe, fair, and commercially viable.

BRIA’s platform enables organizations to integrate generative AI tools, like image, video, music, and text generation, into their existing systems while ensuring every piece of content is traceable and legally compliant. If an AI-generated image is influenced by 100 existing photos, BRIA’s system can identify each contributor and automatically allocate royalties.

If paraphrasing their CEO and co-founder Yair Adato, they are building the “Spotify” of generative content and thus making sure everything is transparent, licensed, and fair.

Unlike consumer-facing tools, BRIA operates as an open API for developers, empowering them to build safe, scalable content solutions. Its patented tech (14 granted and 16 pending) includes features for brand-specific model training, bias mitigation, and the prevention of unauthorized use of celebrity likenesses or copyrighted materials.

BRIA has already raised $40 million and works closely with global tech giants like NVIDIA and AWS. Its client base includes several advertising agencies, game studios, retail giants, and content producers worldwide. The company’s Israeli R&D team was also backed by the Israel Innovation Authority, whose support was critical in BRIA’s formative stage.

Similarly to Tsarfati, Adato also shares the sentiment that the grant they received from the Innovation Authority gave them “breathing room, recognition, and time,” which is exactly what startups need to compete with tech giants.

Looking ahead, BRIA envisions a world where personalized, on-demand content is the norm and the infrastructure supporting it ensures that creators are protected and compensated. The company wishes to increase access to creative expression while ensuring transparency, fairness, and legality.

The Takeaway: The Human Behind the Machine Still Leads

Artificial Intelligence is the driving force behind a profound shift in how industries operate. But as SWAPP and BRIA prove, the most impactful innovation isn’t about replacing people, rather about elevating them. It is disruptive technology on a historic scale and a key factor in the global race for technological innovation. We see it as a growth engine that will impact all sectors: healthcare, transportation, education, and industry.

In that race, these two Israeli companies are showing that the future doesn’t belong to machines alone. It belongs to the people who build them.
